'Furlough' means an 'agreed leave of absence' from work. As you will see, there are a number of important considerations to take into account when communicating and documenting any proposed arrangements.
Another issue to keep in mind is that a 'furloughed' employee cannot carry out any work during the period in which they are 'furloughed' - in other words it is not the same as putting an employee on to an arrangement involving reduced hours.
