Click Here to view this article. It has been produced by our good friends at The Legal Partners and provides some useful guidance on factors to consider when making a decision to 'furlough' employees. 'Furlough' means an 'agreed leave of absence' from work. As you will see, there are a number of important considerations to take into account when communicating and documenting any proposed arrangements.

Another issue to keep in mind is that a 'furloughed' employee cannot carry out any work during the period in which they are 'furloughed' - in other words it is not the same as putting an employee on to an arrangement involving reduced hours.

“We have used Ashton Allsop as initially as our accountants and now effectively as our FD for almost two years now. During this time we have seen a significant step up in our systems, ReceiptBank and Xero for example and now have a much improved grip on the business financials - all delivered in a friendly and cost effective way. We consider Ashton Allsop to be an essential partner in our business.”
